This background comes from the end of the movie. Carmilla is dead and her castle is falling apart. This background is huge, and I love the reminder of what just happened in the cracking of Carmilla’s portrait.

I have to say that the detail in this background is incredible. The scan above may not look too impressive at first glance, but consider that this portrait of Camilla measures only 2.5 cm by 4.0 cm (1 inch by 1.7 inches).
